LERU Expert Groups (EGs) are established with a limited task and for a limited time to provide expertise to an existing LERU representative body (e.g. RA, BoD, RPC, Community or Working Group). Their creation is usually requested by one of these bodies and their remit defined within this context. An EG can be prolonged if needed. EGs consist of a suitable number of members who should be experts in the topic covered by the EG. Usually between five and ten individuals are invited to join or are selected as needed from the LERU universities, although exceptionally non-LERU experts may be involved as external advisers. A chair is appointed among them and a LERU policy officer supports their activities.
