Claire Gray is a policy officer within the League of European Research Universities (LERU). She joined LERU in January 2017 and is responsible for coordinating and supporting the activities of the Natural Sciences and Biomedicine policy groups and the thematic groups on Research Integrity and the Protection of Animals used for Scientific Purposes.
Claire is a biology graduate (Stirling University 2001) and holds a Ph.D. in plant molecular biology (John Innes Centre/University of East Anglia 2006). A research scientist by training, she has over nine years’ experience of assessing technology options, barriers to deployment and providing strategically-focused reports for policy makers, research funders and other organisations. Before joining LERU, she worked for EuropaBio; a trade association representing the views of the biotechnology industry at the European level. Claire´s areas of expertise include the bioeconomy, sustainability, biotechnology and circular economy.
