LERU Members

The League of European Research Universities (LERU) is a consortium of Europe's most prominent and renowned research universities. Founded in 2002, as a partnership among 12 of Europe's top multi-faculty research universities, it expanded its membership to 21 universities in 2010. The interactive map gives an geographic overview of the LERU member universities.

Membership in LERU, which is by invitation, is periodically evaluated against a broad set of quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as research volume, impact and funding, strengths in PhD training, size and disciplinary breadth, and peer-recognised academic excellence.
